The Indian Army will soon take administrative action against Lt Gen SK Dahiya, who was indicted in the case of alleged irregularities in the operation of frozen meat contract in Ladakh sector during his tenure as Major General ASC (Army Supply Corps) of the Northern Command.
A court of enquiry instituted into the scam has finalised its report and indicted Lt Gen Dahiya and four other officers.
The court of enquiry was ordered by the then deputy chief of Army staff, when frozen meat scandal surfaced in 2005, indicating the involvement of the high officials of the Northern Command of the Indian army.
Lt Col SD Goswami, defence spokesperson in Jammu, did not mention the designation and ranks of four other officers. He simply said that the Competent Authority has "directed administrative action against Lt Gen Dahiya and four other officers."
According to him, the action taking process is progressing expeditiously.
The spokesperson did not indicate as to what kind of administrative action is being contemplated. As per rules this could be dismissal from service or denial of pension benefits or even more severe than that.
