Bihar Police is set to issue a non-bailable arrest warrant against Lok Janshakti Party MP Surajbhan Singh for his alleged involvement in a murder, an official said in Patna on Friday.
The Begusarai fast track court in Bihar on Thursday ordered the state police to issue the warrant against Surajbhan Singh after it dismissed his bail plea.
The MP is the prime accused in the murder of Rami Singh, a resident of a Begusarai village, about 126 kms from Patna.
Surajbhan Singh, who faces several criminal charges, including that of murder, extortion, kidnapping and looting, represents Ballia constituency in Parliament. He is considered close to Union Minister of Steel and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan.
After Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Mohammad Sahahabuddin, Pappu Yadav and Janata Dal - United MP Prabhunath Singh, it is now the turn of Surajbhan Singh to answer the law.
Samastipur Superintendent of Police S Akhtar, in his supervision report last month, mentioned about the MP's involvement in a double murder incident of April 13, 2006.
Surajbhan Singh was named in the report as a conspirator, on whose instigation the Chunnu Singh gang allegedly shot dead RJD leaders Akhilesh Rai and Ram Udesh Rai.
