The Bihar Police on Thursday issued an arrest warrant against Sadhu Yadav, a Rashtriya Janata Dal MP and brother-in-law of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, on charges of assaulting the husband of a candidate for the local bodies elections.

Yadav, the Lok Sabha member from Gopalganj, allegedly assaulted Dinesh Sah after he refused to withdraw his wife's candidature in favour of Lalu Prasad's sister-in-law Kunti Devi, also an aspirant for the post of Phulwaria block development committee chief, District Magistrate Murlidhar Rai said.

Rai said he had postponed the election for the post and a fresh date would be announced in consultation with the state election commission.
