Emraan Hashmi picks up the paintbrush yet again, reports Hiren Kotwani.india Updated: Jun 18, 2009 11:33 IST
Emraan Hashmi isn’t likely to discard his painting brush after wrapping up Mohit Suri’s Raaz – The Mystery Returns, in which he plays an artist. The serial kisser is on his way to becoming a serial painter now as he continues his tryst with colours and canvas in Kunal Deshmukh’s as-yet-untitled film which is set against the backdrop of the July 2005 Mumbai deluge.
In an effort to portray his character convincingly in the Raaz sequel, Hashmi started taking classes from artist Sailesh Achrekar. According to a friend, the actor, Hashmi would often joke that painting was such a cumbersome task that he hoped he never had to pick up the brush again. So he was in for a surprise to learnt that he would have to dabble with colours again in Dehmukh’s next.
“Emraan has now become more serious about art and whenever he has time off from shoots, he practises his brush strokes,” says the friend adding that he had to resume his classes with Achrekar
Incidentally, it was Suri who recommended the artist to Deshmukh. The two go back a long time, Desmukh having worked as Suri’s assistant during Kalyug. Suri wrote his first script on Deshmukh’s laptop but drove to shoots in his car.
