Prosecution lawyers and the rape victim’s father have described the charge-sheet against Asaram and his four aides as foolproof and said it’s a fit case of life imprisonment for the self-styled godman and his accomplices.
“This is a foolproof charge-sheet filed by the police, who have corroborated the charges levelled by the victim in her complaint,” said Anand Purohit, additional advocate general of the Rajasthan high court, who represented the prosecution in the sexual assault case against Asaram.
He said the police have collected sufficient evidence against all the accused.
Asaram’s counsel Jagmal Choudhary declined to comment on the charge-sheet, saying he would do so only after studying it and the documents attached with it.
Manish Vyas, counsel for the victim’s father, expressed satisfaction at the police’s effort to collect all the evidence and present a watertight case.
“It is now the burden of the accused to prove his innocent before the court as the police have made out a clear case against him and his aides,” he said.
