Ashiana rape case: Father gives up hope

He sought information from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) if the department had issued any licence to the trio or anyone of them.

He was trying to get the information to prove in the court that the three accused, lodged in a juvenile home, were not minors.

Sabruddin had exercised his Right to information (RTI) submitting an application to the RTO on July 12 to procure the details.

Sabruddin received a letter from the RTO on Saturday. Instead of furnishing the details, the RTO staff asked him to provide them with serial number and the date on which the licences were issued to the accused.

The letter further stated that there was an arrangement of searching details from the files manually at the RTO. The names and addresses of the persons concerned were not enough to find out the details.

The RTO staff asked Sabruddin to provide them with the details from the licences possessed by the accused. After this, the office will be able to provide him with  the required information.

Since it is impossible for Sabruddin to get the licences of the accused, he will never seek any information from the RTO.

Besides, the information, sought from the district magistrate office whether any arms licences were issued to the accused, was yet to be furnished. Sabruddin had submitted an application in this regard on July 11.

Now, the hapless Sabruddin is pinning all his hopes on the information to be furnished by the DM office.
