Asian countries have agreed to create an Asian Regional Network of Social Development Ministers with a view to speed up development activities.
The declaration was signed at the conclusion of a two-day meeting of ministers of social development from Asian countries at Bhurban near Islamabad.
India was represented at the meeting by Sayeeda Hamid, member of the Planning Commission.
The ministers agreed to strengthen cooperation among participant countries in the field of social development and to institutionalise the forum in order to enhance cooperation for accelerated social development.
A declaration signed by the Ministers said that they have agreed on a strategy to identify actions for addressing the issues and remove constraints on the development process in the region.
The ministers discussed challenges affecting social development and way and means for adopting joint strategy to speed up development process and reduce poverty.
The participants in their presentations highlighted performance of various public development institutions in their respective countries.
The Forum also reviewed the state of Public Accountability in Pakistan. The conference was organised by United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Chairman of Pakistan's National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) Daniyal Aziz was unanimously elected chairperson of the forum for one year.
India has agreed to host the next meeting of social development ministers from South Asia next year.
