The police on Wednesday claimed to have identified the assailants, who killed the Congress leader Amarpal Singh at Attora village near Meerut.

"We have identified the assailants who are brothers. In another one week, the case would be solved. A special police team has been sent to New Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Muzaffarnagar to arrest them," Superintendent of Police (Rural) Anant Deo said.

60 year old Singh, a three time MP, had joined the Congress after quitting BJP. He was shot from a close range by unidentified assailants on November 15 at Attora village in Mawana.
