At least three to four persons were involved in the double murder, the police said on Sunday.

Top Noida police officers said they reached this conclusion after a detailed examination of the crime spot and questioning of over a dozen people. Investigations have revealed that the assailants had a friendly entry into Jalvayu Vihar residence. The police are now focusing on who out of the four, Aarushi, her parents and Hemraj, was known to the killers and through whom did they gain access to the house.

"We have leads that point to the fact that there were at least three to four assailants in the house on the night of the murder," said A Satish Ganesh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida.

"We have lifted a number of fingerprints from the bedroom and the terrace. They are being matched with those of the suspects. We have also questioned seven people who worked with the doctor couple. Those who had recently left them are also being questioned. The man who recommended Hemraj to Talwar family is being interrogated," Ganesh said.

Retired DSP KK Gautam, who discovered Hemraj’s body on the terrace of the house, said, "Around four persons were present in the servants room on the night of the murder. The police investigations are in the right direction."
