Security measures in upper Assam districts were tightened after killing of three migrants workers from Bihar in a brick kiln near the Odalguri tea estate under Tengakhat police station in Dibrugarh district on Sunday at 10.30 pm. Dibrugarh police said armed miscreants fired indiscriminately from automatic weapons after entering a camp of brick kiln workers where 20 workers lived. Three labourers were killed and five others were injured in the attack. Police suspected Ulfa militants behind the attack on migrants labourers.
Assam Police Additional DGP (Law and Order), DK Pathak said security measures in brick kilns in upper Assam were tightened after the attack on Sunday night. A red alert was sounded throughout the state ahead of Ulfa’s military day on March 16. Every year before the banned outfit’s military day, cadres of it carried out subversive activities across the state.
