At least 22 killed in South Africa road mishaps

Twelve minibus taxi passengers were killed in the first mishap in Western Cape Karoo.

At least 22 people were killed in two road accidents in South Africa on Monday morning, police said.

Twelve minibus taxi passengers were killed in the first mishap in Western Cape Karoo, about 300 kilometres from Cape Town, when their taxi drove into the back of a bus early on Monday morning.

Two other passengers suffered serious injuries, while nine others were slightly injured in the mishap. They were taken to a hospital in Beaufort West town.

In a separate accident, 10 people were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed near the town of Kroonstad in the northern Free State.
