At least four flights of Jet Airways out of Kolkata were cancelled on Tuesday morning, as pilots did not report for work in response to the countrywide agitation by their colleagues.
However, the morning international flight of the airways to Dhaka took off as per schedule, Jet Airways sources said.
Jetlite flights are also operating as per schedule, the sources said without elaborating on the routes.
The Jet Airways flights cancelled were those going to Delhi, Chennai, Dibrugarh and Guwahati and most of their passengers were accommodated in flights of other airways like Air India.
The airlines operates 12 flights from Kolkata during the day on various routes and the effect of the strike is likely to be felt later in the day.
The pilots are protesting against the sacking of two of their senior colleagues last month. With the National Aviators Guild (NAG) deciding not to go on the proposed strike, its members have gone on mass casual leave hampering the operations of the company.
