Arjun Atwal was part of a jam-packed leaderboard which had seven players shooting six-under 66 to take a share of the lead at the end of the opening round at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic, the final counting event on the PGA Tour for 2011.

Along with Atwal the others are world number one Luke Donald, James Driscoll, Nathan Green, Scott Stallings, Derek Lamely and Gary Woodland. Atwal shot a 66 with six birdies and no bogeys at the Palm Course, which played fairly easy on Thursday.

Kapur tied 59th
Valencia: Shiv Kapur shot a modest 71 to be placed tied 59th after the opening round of the Castello Masters on the European Tour on Thursday.
Kapur shot two birdies and three bogeys, all on the back nine between the 12th and 17th holes.

Gangjee flops
Jacksonville (US): Rahil Gangjee carded a three-over 73 to find himself tied 58th after the first round of the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open. Daniel Chopra shot a 72 and was tied 44th.

Arjun, Seher win
New Delhi: Arjun Singh (17) won the second leg of the first Hank Haney International Junior Golf Tour Asian Circuit — Indian Qualifiers, conducted by Albatross, after finishing the second and final round with a total of three-under 141 here on Friday. In the girls’ section, 13-year-old Seher Atwal clinched the title in Combined Category ‘A’ & ‘B’ at the score 10-over 154.
