'Krishna Janmashtami' to be celebrated on Wednesday, has auspicious timings for preparation and celebrations.

The city astrologers have not only announced a particular period during which the celebrations should be carried on, but they have also given suggestions for performing puja in a particular way so as to appease the deity--the incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

"Two particular timings have been considered auspicious for performing puja.
The first one is during the day time under 'Abhijeet Yog' from 11.30 am to 12.15 pm which is most suitable for the preparations of puja to be performed at night.

The second and the most auspicious time at night has been calculated under the 'Nishachar Yog' from 11.58 pm to 12.07 am," said eminent astrologer Ashok.

Devotees must listen to the 'katha' of Sri Krishna on Janmashthami day. Although various types of sweets are prepared on the occasion and used as offerings but the most significant offering consists of butter, preferably home-made and 'mishri'.

"The prasad thus offered should be distributed among children. This is the most significant aspect," he said.

Astrologically, this period is considered most suitable to attain 'siddhis'. Those devotees having the small idol of Baal Gopal must immerse it in the solution of curd and butter during Abhijeet Yog and then take it out before performing puja at night. The idol should be washed with gangajal.

The lights of the spot where puja is to be performed should be switched off and they should be switched on only during the time fixed for puja at night that is from 11.58 pm to 12.07 am, he added."Light the diyas of five different metals before the idol of Lord Krishna and they should be placed in five different foodgrains.

'Hare Krishna' is the mantra which is most auspicious and should be repeated for atleast 108 times, specially by the 'grihastha'.

It is said that all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled if they perform the puja with pure heart. The day of Janmashthami heralds prosperity and welfare of the devotees, added another astrologer.
