After months of publishing stories on the poor condition of roads in HT, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has finally woken up to carry out road repair works in Gurgaon.
Works are in full swing in sectors 5, 18 and 21, 22 and 23. However, the residents are still sceptical. "We are happy to see road repair works in progress. The quality of work also seems to be satisfactory. However, it remains to be seen in what time they finish the project," said Lal Singh Yadav, president of the residents' welfare association (RWA), Sector 5.
On Tuesday, Huda's executive engineer, sub divisional engineer and other officials inspected several areas to warn contractors who had not been showing good progress.
"We have asked them to complete road repair and patch works in time, else we would take action against them," said executive engineer AK Maggu.
HT has repeatedly highlighted the bad conditions of sector roads as commuters had been complaining about lack of repair works.
Huda has set a deadline of one-and-a-half months for contractors to finish all projects, including repair and patch works, worth more than Rs 2 crore.
"We have asked the contractor to complete the projects in December. We have also kept our eyes open for quality of construction materials as several complaints have been received in the past," said the Huda executive engineer.
