AUTORICKSHAWS would soon be getting the parking space in Charbagh, Gomti Nagar, Rae Bareli Road and Munshi Pulia.
Autorickshaw drivers for long had been demanding a place for long and had even filed a petition in the High Court for the same.
The Lucknow municipal corporation, LDA, PWD, Railways, Housing Board had been summoned by the High Court regarding the petition moved by the Autorickshaw Union and directed to mark the places for the parking of autorickshaws. These government departments have to reply to the court over the matter in the next hearing on Thursday.
Additional municipal commissioner Santosh Kumar said the LMC has no land for the stand in Charbagh. “But, the corporation has identified some spots for the auto rickshaws from where they could collect the passengers,” he said. There are three spots in Charbagh from where the auto drivers could collect the passengers. Those spots are in front of Ravindralaya, in front of Reservation counter and in front of NER station, he said.
While the LDA has proposed a stand for them in Viraj Khand near bus stand, Hussaidia Crossing, Apna Bazar, Vibhutikhand near Bank of India, in front of CMS in Vipul Khand. Housing Board has proposed stands at Rae Bareli Road in Vrindavan Colony and in Indira Nagar Munshi Pulia.
LMC officials there are nearly 2000 autorickshaws plying on the city roads, and they have no place which could be stated as their stand. Additional municipal commissioner Santosh Kumar said, “ LMC has no land left in Charbagh, Alambagh or any other area, so we are looking up to LDA, Housing board, Railways, or PWD for providing the land for the auto rickshaws.”
