Talking to the Hindustan Times, Manavjit said: "If it's true, it's a superb thing to happen and I am really delighted."
The marksman, who became the world champion last year in Zagreb (Croatia) and has already qualified for the Beijing Olympics, however, said he was yet to receive an official communication from the Sports Ministry. "I cannot say I have been awarded the Khel Ratna until I get an official communication from the Sports Ministry," he said.
"I am in my best possible physical shape. Health-wise I have improved a lot and am consciously trying to get in the best shape before the Olympics," said Manavjit. As for his chances at the Olympic Games, the JCT sponsored shooter said: "Sure, I stand a realistic chance of winning a medal in Beijing, but saying I am zero per cent or 100 per cent sure (of winning a medal) would be wrong. No one can commit that," said the former World No 1 trap shooter.
