To create awareness among people living in far-flung and hilly areas, particularly students, a programme under National Environment Awareness Campaign on the theme "Biodiversity Conservation" was organised at Government HSS, Dessa.

Principal Mohd Hafiz was the chief guest and CP Thakur, co-ordinater of Paryavaran Mitra Programme, was the guest of honour. Dr Jamsheed delivered a lecture on biodiversity conservation and stressed upon maintaining cleanliness of streets. The principal asked students and locals to conserve forests and water, which are essential for the future.

CP Thakur impressed upon the people of the region to conserve biodiversity/forests for maintaining ecological balance and green cover in the area. He asked the people to conserve rich flora and fauna and plant more and more trees. Debate and seed collection competitions were also held and students who secured top three positions were awarded.
