According to the police, guard Sanjay Kumar, along with his associate, hatched the conspiracy of robbing the ATM booth. He informed the police about the incident five hours after the ‘actual robbery’. The police have recovered about Rs 7.5 lakh from Kumar’s possession.

A CCTV footage revealed the truth and the guard was arrested, said a police official.

Earlier, the accused had claimed that he was sleeping when the robbers came and took away the money from ATM. “He changed his statements several times during the interrogation. He tried to mislead us by saying that he was sleeping when the robbers entered the ATM booth and the CCTV cameras were not working,” said the official.
