Azadi Express concludes journey
A special train highlighting the freedom struggle and our achievements since Independence concluded its journey on Friday, reports HT Correspondent.
The Azadi Express, a special train highlighting the freedom struggle and the country’s achievements in various fields since Independence, concluded its journey on Friday after criss-crossing the country for nearly eight months.
At a function at the Safdarjung railway station here, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Secretary Asha Swarup released a book titled “India’s Freedom Movement (1857-1947 And After) — A Journey Through Azadi Express” and also a video film on the train.
More than 80 lakh people from all over the country visited the train during its 72 halts. The exhibition on wheels was flagged off from New Delhi on September 28, 2007 by Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh in the presence of the Union Minister of Information and Braodcasting and Parliamentary Affairs on the birth centenary of Bhagat Singh.
