Former cricketer and Congress candidate from Moradabad Mohammad Azaharudin on Thursday held a road show here, campaigning for the party nominee Ratna Singh.
Accompanied by Congress Legislature Party leader Pramod Tewari and Ratna Singh, Azharuddin arrived here in a helicopter and landed at the Ramlila Ground.
He then rode in an open vehicle through the city roads, waving and shaking hands with locals.
Azharuddin elicited keen interest among the locals, especially the youths.
Interacting with them at the Ghanta Ghar Chowk in the city, Azharuddin said that he had played 99 tests, one short of 100 in his career.
“If you support Congress and ensure its victory in the coming Lok Sabha elections it would be as good as playing my 100 test,” he said.
Later at the Plaza Palace where his road show culminated in an election meeting, Azharuddin said Pratapgarh was the home town of his tailor.
“I used to then think whether I would ever be able to visit Pratapgarh but the party has provided me an opportunity to see this city,” the former cricketer said.
