MAFIA DON Babloo Srivastava may be in jail, but his penchant to grab prime property in the city cannot be arrested. Six months after the don’s attempt to grab the bungalow of senior advocate late KB Garg in Civil Lines was foiled by the police, a fresh move was allegedly made by him last evening.
Granddaughter of late Garg, Ritu, a teacher, rushed to SSP Vijay Singh Meena last night to tell him about a call on her mobile phone made allegedly by Babloo Srivastava. The caller identified himself as Babloo Srivasatava and allegedly threatened Ritu and her family with dire consequences to vacate the bungalow.
Ritu said Babloo also asked her to withdraw cases filed by her against Imtiaz or face the music. It may be recalled that sub-inspector Shatrughan Singh, staying in a room in the said bungalow, had on May 14 shot dead a guard Ram Avtar Shukla. The latter had been employed as a private guard by the Gargs to protect them from alleged threats of Imtiaz who claimed to have purchased the bungalow, a fact contested by the Garg family.
It was alleged by the Gargs that Imtiaz had facilitated by force entry of the sub-inspector into their house. On the fateful day, the sub-inspector and Ritu’s mother had entered into an argument over an illegal electricity connection which the sub-inspector had managed through a pole on the road. During the argument, the police officer lost his temper and began to abuse Ritu. When the guard intervened, the cop shot him dead with his rifle and has been evading arrest since. Ritu alleged the hand of Imtiaz who she said was waiting in a vehicle outside the bungalow to help the sub-inspector flee. Babloo Srivastava, it may be mentioned, had on an earlier occasion tried to threaten the Garg family and had been terrorising them to vacate the bungalow in which they had been staying for the past 40 years through several persons, alleged Ritu while talking to HT.
