THE CHOWK police arrested five youths on Wednesday, who were threatening a businessman in the name of jailed mafia Babloo Srivastava. The youths were forcing the trader to sell off a plot of prime land to them for a petty sum.
The cops were yet to establish if the youths had links with the jailed don.
The police received an SOS in the noon from a businessman Chandra Krishna Rastogi of 222/44, Raja Bazar. Rastogi, who owns a general merchant’s shop in the same locality, informed the police that five aides of Babloo Srivastava were threatening him at his house.
The cops rushed to the place and found the five youths present there. They had come in a Maruti Alto car (MH 04 BY-4086). The five were brought to the police station where they identified themselves as Abdul Bayan, Mohammad Shahid and Mohammad Sami of Amberganj, Saadatganj, Shamim of Golaganj, Saadatganj and Nasir of Indrapur, Gonda. The cops recovered eight mobile phones and Rs 25,000 from the possession of the accused.
Rastogi later revealed that he had ancestral land in Raja Bazar for purchase of which the five youths visited him. They were offering him a petty amount for the land and using the name of Babloo. The youths said that the don was interested in purchasing the property.
Rastogi further said that the accused visited him on June 16 and asked him to accompany them to the Dental University where Babloo wanted to meet him (Rastogi). The complainant, however, had ignored the diktat then.
The youths again reached Rastogi’s place on Wednesday and threatened him to either meet the don in the court today or face the music.
The cops revealed that Nasir was earlier arrested by the Ghazipur police here and Gangster Act was slapped on him. Besides, cases were pending against Shamim in Gonda district.
