The Muthiganj police is reported to have arrested four persons involved in the double murder in Bahadurganj late last night.

However, on being asked, police denied having arrested any person. Efforts were on to arrest the alleged killers, they said.

It may be mentioned that two brothers Salim and Kalim had a steel almirah manufacturing shop in Bahadurganj near their house. When electricity suddeny got snapped last evening one of the brothers, Kalim, climbed up the pole for repair of the faults on his own.

Meanwhile, sparks from the cable fell on one Manager who is the tenant of Raj Allahabadi who stays in Kalim's neighbourhood. Angered, Manager got embroiled in a scuffle with Kalim. On seeing this Kalim's brother Salim too came running.

After this Manager reportedly ran to nearby Sheesh Mahal building and returned with some persons who were armed with knives and countrymade pistols.

All of them pounced upon Kalim and Salim who tried to run away in a bid to save their lives. But the four men attacked them repeatedly with knives and other weapons.

Salim and Kalim fell on the ground bleeding profusely. They were first rushed to a nursing home and then taken to the SRN Hospital where both the brothers breathed their last.

Peeved over the brutal double murder the residents of the area made an attempt to torch the house of Manager but were prevented from doing so by the police.

They had a heated exchange of words with the police. Meanwhile, PAC has been posted in the area to contain the tension.
