Bajpai is new chief secy, Bua new DGP

IN A sudden administrative reshuffle, 25 IAS officers, including the chief secretary, four principal secretaries and six district magistrates, and seven IPS officers, including the DGP, were transferred here on Monday evening.

IN A sudden administrative reshuffle, 25 IAS officers, including the chief secretary, four principal secretaries and six district magistrates, and seven IPS officers, including the DGP, were transferred here on Monday evening.

The transfers are being seen as part of election preparations of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Political as well as administrative circles are agog with the possibility of Yadav going for an early elections in the state as there is no apparent reason for sidelining some of his close lieutenants. The transfers are also being dubbed as Chief Minister’s pre-poll image-building exercise in which caste factor has been taken care of. Also, efforts have also been made to placate the Samajwadi Party cadre which has not been very happy with the over-all performance of the bureaucracy.

Chief secretary R Ramni and director general of police Yashpal Singh have been unceremoniously removed and sent to insignificant post of DG, Training, and CMD, Police Housing Corporation, respectively.

Agriculture production commissioner NC Bajpai has taken over as new chief secretary while Bua Singh, DG, PAC, has become the new DGP. Bajpai is considered to be an upright and honest  officer while Bua Singh has always been known for his close proximity with Mulayam Singh Yadav and has an image of a tough task master. Anees Ansari, principal secretary, Labour, has been appointed as new APC while additional charge of principal secretary, Home, has been given to Satish Kumar Agarwal, principal secretary, PWD.

Nitin Ramesh Gokaran, DM Varanasi, has been appointed on the key post of Information Director replacing Sanjay Bhatia, who goes to the Disaster Management Programme as project director.

Deepak Trivedi, appointment secretary, goes to the UPSRTC as MD in place of Umesh Sinha, who is the new appointment secretary.

Anil Kumar Gupta and Ganga Din Yadav, who were awaiting posting, become principal secretary, Revenue, and housing commissioner respectively while KL Meena, commissioner and director, Industries, Kanpur, is the new secretary, Housing. Surjit Kaur Sandhu, principal secretary, Housing, becomes principal secretary, Vigilance and Secretariat Administration.

Kanpur DM Deepak Kumar becomes vice-chairman of the KDA while Rajiv Agarwal, DM, Kanpur Dehat, goes to Varanasi as DM. Faizabad DM Anurag Srivastava goes to Kanpur in the same capacity while Sitapur DM Amod Kumar and Deoria DM Rakesh Goyal go to Faizabad and Sitapur in the same capacity.

OPN Singh, vice-chairman of the Allahabad Development Authority, becomes the new DM of Kanpur Dehat while Dilip Sahai, special secretary, Food and Civil Supply, goes to Deoria as DM.

 

 

Pankaj Kumar, joint magistrate, Deoria, goes to Aurriya as DM replacing Ranjan Kumar, who becomes special secretary, Food and Civil Supplies. Amit Gupta, who was awaiting posting, goes to Jalaun as DM in place of Manish Chauhan, who becomes special secretary, APC branch.    

Sunanda Prasad, principal secretary, Religious Endowment, goes to the Science and Technology Department as principal secretary replacing PN Loi who goes to Religious Endowment in the same capacity.

Har Amol Singh, chairman and MD of the UP Police Housing Corporation, has been kept in waiting while A Palinivel, ADG, Law and Order, goes to the PAC as ADG.

Padman Singh, ADG, Police Buildings and Welfare becomes as ADG, Law and Order while RK Tiwari, ADG, Crime, becomes ADG, Police Buildings and Welfare.
