The hundi collection at the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala crossed a record of Rs three crore on New Year, as thousands of devotees thronged the temple on Saturday.
Temple sources said more than 80,000 devotees had darshan of the presiding deity throughout the day.
This was the first time that the hundi collection at the country's richest temple crossed the Rs three crore mark on a single day, they said.
An amount of around Rs 3.80 crore was registered today.
Besides the cash, gold and silver offerings were also made in the hundi, they added.
