Banaras Bar Assn poll results declared

VIJAY SHANKER Rastogi and Abhay Kumar Dixit have been elected as the president and general secretary of the Banaras Bar Association for the year 2007. The results of the bar association election were declared on Wednesday evening. Vijay Shanker Rastogi defeated his nearest rival Madhu Babu by a margin of mere 12 votes.

Abhay Kumar Dixit defeated his nearest rival Anil Kumar Pandey by a margin of 196 votes. Irfan Ahmad has been elected as senior vice-president whereas Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and Anand Kumar Tandon have been elected as vice-presidents of the bar association. Anil Kumar Pathak has been elected as the treasurer. Girdhar Das, Khursheed Alam, Awadhesh Verma, Indradev Mishra, Kshatradhari Singh, Sanjay Kumar Verma, Radheyshyam Singh, Narendra Kumar Srivastava and Shivanand Pandey played an important role in peaceful conduct of the election. Meanwhile, 38 candidates are in fray for the 21 posts of the Central Bar Association. Polling for the election will be held on December 19 whereas counting of votes is scheduled for Dec 20.
