A local court on Friday extended the judicial remand of BSP MLA Purshottam Naresh Dwivedi and three others by 14 days. Dwivedi stands accused of raping a Dalit girl.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sanjiv Kumar Jaiswal extended the remand of Dwivedi, Rajendra Shukla, Surendra Neta and Ravan Garg, who were present in the court. The CB CID probing the matter had filed a chargesheet in the matter in the court on Thursday.
Dwivedi has been charged with Sections 376 (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and other relevant sections of the IPC in the charge sheet filed in Chief Judicial Magistrate Tripta Chaudhary's court.
The other three co-accused have also been booked under all the charges, except for rape.
The FIR against Dwivedi was lodged on January 12 this year and he was arrested on January 13.
The Dalit girl was allegedly raped on December 10-11 at the residence of 48 year old Dwivedi, who represents Naraini seat in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. She escaped from the MLA's house on December 12 when the MLA allegedly attempted rape for the third time. Later on in the day the girl was arrested on theft charges.
