ATUL YADAV, alias Bantu, former corporator of Samajwadi Party from Narahi was taught a befitting lesson by employees of the LESA’S Hussainganj division and later by the police after Yadav once again tried to flex his muscles late on Saturday night.

It was around 10 pm on Saturday when the 11 kv Park Road feeder connected to the Jawahar Bhawan sub-station developed some fault leading low current, though the feeder was not shut down. The sub-station staff identified the fault and switched off power supply of the Narhi and other areas to enable itself to fix the snag. The line staff had hardly begun the work when local SP corporator, Bantu Yadav flanked by many supporters landed at the spot at 10.45 pm and allegedly started beating up the linemen.

While two of the line-men anyhow managed to escape, two others were held captive by Bantu and his supporters.
Bantu known for creating similar scenes in the past too did not stop here.

He and his supporters barged into the nearby Jawahar Bhawan sub-station and ordered sub-station operator on duty, Ramji Rai to switch off the power supply from the sub-station. When the SSO did not oblige, Bantu and his men swooped down on him beating him with batons and  allegedly shut down power supply forcing all the localities fed by the sub-station to grope in the dark.

On getting the information, executive engineer, Hussainganj, SC Agrawal reached the sub-station where SDO, Clyde Road, RK Srinet and junior engineer, Sanjay Sharma were already there. After informing their bosses, the officials rushed to the Hazratganj police station and registered case against him under IPC sections of 147/148/342/332/353/336/504/427/323/506 etc. The police later arrested Bantu around 1 am after much resistance. Bantu reportedly was thrashed by the agitated employees of LESA and later by the police too when he refused to accompany them to the police station.

In protest, Bantu and his supporters pelted stones on the police jeep injuring two of the constables. The police however, overpowered the corporator and bundled  him into the jeep. The power employees are relieved that at least this time Bantu was sent to jail.
The power employees of LESA’s Hussainganj division on Sunday also struck work and held demonstration at the Jawahar Bhawan sub-station to protest anarchy created by the local Samajwadi Party corporator, Atul Yadav alias ‘Bantu Yadav’ at the Jawahar Bhawan sub-station late on Saturday night.

The agitating employees alleged that around Rs 3 lakh dues were pending against Bantu and demanded his power connection be snapped immediately. They said it was not for the first time when Bantu had indulged in lawful act but he had a history of violent and criminal acts. They said the power employees were terrorized by Bantu and demanded toughest action against him and proper security at the sub-station.

The employees ended their strike in the evening only after LESA chief engineer, AK Singh reached the spot and assured them of taking all steps to combat the anti-social elements.
