Amidst efforts to put together a Third Front to take on Congress and BJP in Lok Sabha polls, CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan on Wednesday met AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa in Chennai.
Jayalalithaa told reporters that they discussed the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Bardhan said Left parties, along with AIADMK, had formed a Third Front and today's discussions centered around expanding it. "We have left the matter to her and she will take care of it. We will also be helping her on this", he said.
The Third Front was shaping really well, he claimed adding the alliance would be expanded even after the Lok Sabha polls.
He said "we also tried to fix time frame to finalise every thing regarding Lok Sabha Polls. We hope it would be finalised before the second or third week of February".
He said the Front would also make sure the alleged electoral malpractices reported during the bypoll to the state assembly from Tirumangalam did not recur.
Bardhan was accompanied by CPI national secretary D Raja and the party's state secretary D Pandiyan.
