The police have started an awareness campaign to catch the man who raped and murdered two minors in Kurla.
“We are going to the slums and talking to people to create an awareness about the issue. The Mohalla Ekta committee members are being enrolled in the efforts,” said Inspector Shashikant Mane of the VB Nagar police station.
This comes after a series of incidents in the last three months. The body of a five-year-old girl was found on the staircase of a building terrace on February 9. The girl was raped.
On March 7, a nine-year-old girl was found raped and murdered on the terrace of the police quarters, opposite Nehru Nagar police station.
On April 27, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and molested in a railway colony building. She managed to escape.
The police said the accused is 25-30 years of age, with sharp features and slightly wheatish complexion. “He speaks Hindi and Marathi. We suspect he is a psychopath,” Mane said.
