“Shiney Ahuja has talent and he is a great actor but that doesn’t make him a respectable person and his character doesn’t reflect reputation of his family,” replied the Oshiwara police to a bail plea filed by Ahuja in an alleged rape case.

The police added: “Releasing him on bail would have impact on society and women at large.”

Ahuja is accused of raping his teenage maid at his Oshiwara residence on June 14.

Ahuja had moved a bail plea in the sessions court saying bail should be granted to him as he hails from a good family and has no criminal history.

The police replied the alleg-ed crime committed by Ahuja is very heinous in nature.

The police also said that Ahuja might jump bail if he is released and can intimidate the victim and witnesses.

At the defence’s contention that the victim has filed the complaint at somebody's influence, the police said the victim is above 18 years of age and mature enough.

The police have also countered defence’s contention that the victim was taking undue advantage, saying she was only working in Ahuja’s house for one and half months and did not know anything about Ahuja or his family to take any undue advantage.

Further the police also said though the victim’s body did not show any marks but Ahuja’s medical report shows nail marks on his body, which is enough to establish that the victim had protested.

The police have also said statements of some of the witnesses have to be recorded.

Ahuja’s contention that he should be granted bail as the trial would have impact on his films, the police said that the state has decided to commit the case to the fast track court.

The actor’s lawyers have sought time and the court will take up the case on July 7.
