Some of the most droolworthy items on offer are the Fudge Brownies, Apple Crumble Pie, Lemon Tarts, and the intriguingly named Chocolate Going Nuts and Belgian Chocolate Evasion. The place also stocks various kinds of freshly made bread and savouries. And those hoping to shed some weight can take heart, as there are several sugar-free, low calorie desserts on offer. This joint is ideal for those with a sweet tooth, or those who just need a pick-me-up after work.

La Baguette
This cosy little bakery-cum-patisserie stocks an eclectic range of fresh pastries, tarts and breads. The confections are as much a treat for the eyes as for the tastebuds. We highly recommend the soft Blueberry Muffins, the range of West Asian pastries, Fresh Fruit Cake and English Lemon Tea Cake. The breads are all heavenly and freshly made. While here, don’t forget to check out their impressive range of organic honey, apart from homemade ice cream. The staff behind the counter is efficient and serves with a smile. All in all, La Baguette is a bakery that is definitely worth a visit!

Open Oven, Greater Kailash
If you like coffee and all things that go with it, head to Open Oven, which is best known for its Cappuccino, Chocolate Fudge and gelatos. We also recommend the Chicken Quiche, Cheese Patties and Mushroom Rolls here. Have your coffee with a cookie on the side, though choosing one from the delicious variety on offer can be tough — they have Sesame Seed, Jam Drops, Choco Chip, Choco Drop and ajwain cookies, among others. Cakes can be made to order or bought off-the-shelf. The breads are freshly made — choose from traditional French bread, Indian masala bread or croissants to take home.

Sidewalk
Sidewalk is best known for its delectable cakes and pastries, and rightly so. Among the latter, it’s the Chocolate Truffle that emerges as the clear winner, with many touting it as the best in the city. Other star attractions on the menu are the Peanut Butter Cheesecake, Red Currant Meringue Pie and Passion Fruit Pastry. While the place stocks snacks such as croissants and pizzas too, we suggest you give those a miss and head straight for the chocolate section. It has over ten varieties of gourmet chocolates on offer. Post-8 pm, most items are available at a fifty per cent discount.

The Old Baker, Jaypee Vasant Continental
Looking for a sugar rush? Step into The Old Baker, which stands right next to the hotel’s coffee shop. The place recently welcomed Frenchman Franck Turmine as the executive pastry chef, and he has brought with him new additions to the menu which have upped its exotic quotient. There are Macaroons and Bourdaloue Tarts, Mini Marjolain, the unique Canotier Hat Cake (which has a chai-flavoured mousse!), and exquisite mousse cakes with Indian spices. The fresh-out-of-the-oven breakfast items (breads, doughnuts and croissants) are worth trying; the chocolate croissant deserves a special mention.

Courteous attendants are at hand to guide you through the selection process — there is an extensive range of delicious-looking pralines, bon-bons and truffles on display. Flavours range from tequila, champagne, orange and strawberry to the more exotic chilli, lavender, green tea and Fleur de Sel! Theme cakes are a specialty. The Gourmet Shop serves an array of beautifully-crafted and delicious gateaux, pastries, brownies, tarts, pies and breads. Among the top draws here are the croissants, doughnuts and tarts. Where cakes are concerned, we suggest you dig into the Blueberry Cake, the ultra-chocolatey Dark Truffle Cake, and the interesting Spice Truffle Cake. The efficient and warm service is definitely worth a mention, too. Head here if you want to pamper your sweet tooth.

Choko La, Khan MkT
Choko La is easily the cutest, quaintest chocolate hub in the city. The place is warm, inviting and unbearably tempting. Like the Mayans, Choko La takes its chocolate seriously — all of it is single origin. Sample the truffles on offer before ordering, or indulge in some freshly-made pastries. They also serve some of the best hot chocolate drinks in town, and an equally impressive range of healthy juices. A must-try is Iced Chocolate (melted Belgian dark chocolate blended with ice and served chilled with a humzinger), which is light and refreshing. On cold winter days, try their Sao Thome to get a taste of real chocolate! Truly a chocolate lover’s haven.

One of the oldest bakeries in Connaught Place, Wenger’s continues to serve some of the best cakes, confections and snacks in town. Their Chocolate Truffle Cake and Black Forest Cake are classics — rich, creamy and absolutely fresh. The English Doughnut, Mango Swiss Roll, French Nougat and Apple Tart are other popular treats. If you’re looking for a snack, go for Shammi Kebabs, Chicken Quiche or Chicken Patty. The Mushroom Patties and Baguettes are also delectable. Around Christmas, make sure to get your hands on the special mince pies.
