Haryana Government would to give 'Best Mother award' to 2472 mothers during the current financial year. These awards are given to encourage them for proper rearing of their children, especially the girl child with a view to improve their nutritional status and their physical, mental, social, intellectul and psychological development.
A spokesman of the Women and Child Development Department said here today that Rs. 20.25 lakh had been made available in the budget of this year to award such mothers. The mothers having atleast one girl child were selected for the first, second and third prizes of Rs. 1000, Rs. 750 and Rs. 500 were given respectively at the block level and Rs. 500, Rs. 300 and Rs. 200 respectively at the circle level. He said that Best Mother award functions were organized at each circle and block level.
It is made sure that maximum eligible mother'supto village level could participate for the Best Mother Award. As per the eligibility criteria, the age of the mothers should be 18 years at the time of her marriage and the birth of all her children should be registered.
She should have birth certificate of all her children. Her children below the age of six should have been timely enrolled in Anganwari Centres and above six years in schools.
She said that only those mothers would be selected for the award whose children were attending Aganwari Centres regularly for availing required services and she also visits the centre regularly. None of her children should be in any grade of malnutrition. The immunization status of her children should be completed as per the schedule.
