The mother of three children, who were allegedly raped and murdered near Bhandara in February, expressed lack of faith in the district police and demanded a CBI probe into the incident.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Madhuri Jaipal Borkar, mother of the victims, said that the police after failing to nab the culprits even after a fortnight, now claim that the "girls were never raped".
"If they were not raped then why did the police initially say the girls were raped and murdered," she said.
"I want that rapists and killers of my daughters be arrested soon and given harshest punishment," she added.
"The director general of police (DGP), Sanjeev Dayal met me on Friday and tried to console me. I told him the same thing. The truth should come out and culprits must be arrested," she added.
The initial post mortem report had said that three sisters, aged --- 6, 9 and 11--- were raped and murdered.
The forensic report however, could not conclusively establish sexual assault on any of them. The forensic report of the vaginal swabs collected from the victims did not show any trace of semen.
The police are now waiting for a second opinion.
Madhuri, a 30-something widow, suspected that the police were hiding something.
"If my daughters were not raped why did the post mortem report say so?" she asked.
The three sisters from Murmadi village in Bhandara district, some 150 kms from Nagpur, went missing on February 14 after leaving for school. Their bodies were found floating in a well near the village on February 16.
"I have totally lost the faith on the district police and the case should be handed over to the CBI immediately," she demanded.
Parmanandra Meshram, a social worker in the district, alleged that even after passing few suspicious names in the case to the police, no action was initiated so far.
"They were not even summoned to the police station for questioning," he said.
Vasant Jadhav, the additional SP of the district and investigation officer in the case, said that the police were interrogating four suspects in the case.
"We are getting some concrete clues," he claimed and informed that 10 different teams were set up to investigate the case.
