Putting the debacle of Saawariya behind him, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has moved on to his next project.
According to an industry source he will return to a dark, brooding subject like Black. "It's much more disturbing and dramatic.. and a completely songless movie," informs the source.
The untitled film has been written by Bhansali and his Black writer Bhavani Iyer. The plot revolves around three characters.
However, in reply to a text message, Bhansali asserted, "Not true at all." Iyer too was unavailable for comment. Our source stands by the story and says that Bhansali plans to start shooting by the end of the year or early 2009.
Bhansali is also planning to produce a film. According to Amitabh Bachchan's blog, the filmmaker met him with a script. Chenab Gandhi will be produced by Bhansali but directed by his assistant Vibhu Puri. A management graduate, Puri assisted Bhansali on Saawariya earlier.
It is learnt that Chenab Gandhi is inspired by the story of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, India's freedom fighter who was known as the Frontier Gandhi. Although Bachchan has in principle consented to the project, he will sign up for it after dates and other details have been finalised.
