BHEL EXECUTIVE Director P T Deo’s successor is likely to be announced soon, may be in a couple of days. Deo is due to retire on January 24.

Power Sector, Western Region, Executive Director R K Singh has emerged as the frontrunner for the job , though two more contenders are in the reckoning, according to sources.

Other two officers whose names are doing the rounds for the coveted post include Bhopal Unit’s SCR General Manager K K Mehrotra and ROD Group General Manager (New Delhi) S N Daga.

Interestingly, all the officers whose names are in circulation belong to the Bhopal unit. Corporate office sources told Hindustan Times that the Union Heavy Industries Minister Santosh Mohan Deb has directed the top management to clear the file pertaining to appointment of new ED of Bhopal unit.

Following this, BHEL Chairman and Managing Director A K Puri and Human Resource Director S K Jain are learnt to have cleared the name of the new head. Final announcement is likely to next week.

The corporate management of BHEL is aware of the importance of unit head of Bhopal, particularly during the peak production time.

Usually, new unit head used to be posted a month before retirement of the incumbent ED so that the successor could acquaint himself with the environment of the unit he is going to head.
