THE WATER Turbine Manufacturing Department of BHEL Bhopal has reconstituted its Shop Council. A programme was organised to mark the occasion. R D Tripathi, president INTUC (MP), chaired the function whereas M K Dubey, General Manager (Hydro), and M C Prasad, General Manager (HR), were present as guests of honour.
Tripathi in his keynote address highlighted the Government policy to enhance the share of hydro-electricity compared to thermal power in overall power generation. He said that the present ratio of 24:76 between hydro and thermal power has to be brought to 40:60.
He appreciated that the present value of orders with BHEL Hydro Division is likely to increase further and asked the employees to make all-out efforts in achieving the ambitious target of Government to make electricity available in every village by 2012.
Dubey in his address assured of achieving a target of more than Rs 200 crore this year by Hydro Group.The senior trade union leader said that despite reduced cycle time, the department is ready to meet the strict delivery schedules. He also informed about plans to increase the capacity from 750-MW per annum to 2500-MW per annum.
Prasad called WTM as ‘star product’ of the unit and appreciated the working atmosphere and team spirit in the department. He advised the employees to achieve zero defect.
Earlier, A R Bhattacharya, Senior DGM (WTM) while presenting a report on the target and activities for the current year, also highlighted the coming challenges.
