KEEPING IN view the growing demand of power in coming years BHEL has made an extensive plan to extend its present capacity of 720 mw hydro turbine and hydro generators to 2500 mw.

BHEL, Bhopal unit’s Executive Director P T Deo said this while addressing employees on the eve of BHEL’s golden jubilee. He added, manufacturing of large electrical machines had to be extended from the present 100 to 350 per year; Industrial Machine manufacturing capacity from 12,000 MVA to 30,000 MVA per year. He said BHEL employees had to meet double turnover of the present one within a span of five years.

Deo congratulated employees for their hard labour and dedication towards the company that helped it complete its 50 year-journey with flying colours.

He also made a presentation on the glorious journey of BHEL since its inception on August 29,1956 as HE (P) Limited at Bhopal. Quoting extracts of the speech delivered by great visionary Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru on November 1958 at Bhopal just before the foundation laying of the factory by Lal Bahadur Shastri, the Executive Director said, “We have to go beyond the vision of Nehru and fulfill all his cherished dreams.”

Deo highlighted various policies and schemes made by BHEL towards the welfare of employees.
