BHEL quarter 1 net profit up 85 per cent

Public sector firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has posted a 85.08 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 236.67 crore for the quarter ended June 30 compared to Rs 127.87 crore in the year-ago period.
The total income (net of excise) during the period under review rose 36.79 per cent at Rs 2,776.42 crore as against Rs 2,029.66 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal, BHEL informed the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday.
Meanwhile, the board of directors, in its meeting held on Friday, deferred the decision on issuing bonus shares and sub-division (split) of the company's equity shares for consideration at its next meeting to be held on August 8, it said.
The company has an outstanding order book position of about Rs 39,300 crore at the end of the first quarter.
