THE BANK accounts of the MP Bhoj Open University have remained sealed for the last three days following action by the Employees Provident Fund Department for failing to deposit entire amount of EPF. The accounts might be de-sealed on Tuesday, as the university has deposited the balance amount.
The action by the EPF Department came on Friday after the checking of records showed that the university had failed to deposit as much as Rs 30 lakh out of the total Rs 80 lakh in the EPF account of the employees. The bank accounts of the university were sealed in the process. However, on Monday, the amount was reportedly deposited paving way for de-sealing of the accounts, university sources said.
Registrar of the university, S B Goswami, however denied knowledge on sealing of accounts but conceded that there was some balance accrued on EPF account, but the university has made the payment recently.
