THE BHOPAL division under-15 boys’ cricket team registered their second win by defeating Rewa in the three-day match of the AW Kanmadikar Trophy cricket tournament.
The match concluded at Rewa on Monday. Bhopal was declared the winner on the basis of first innings lead. Bhopal will now play against Indore in the final to be played from October 19.
The win over Jabalpur in the first match played at Bhopal motivated Bhopal team to maintain the rhythm. Playing according to the expectations, the team registered a thumping win over Rewa.
Resuming their second innings on the concluding day with the overnight score of six runs, Bhopal declared at 184 and set a target of 263 runs for the opponents.
Vikrant Singh who scored a century against Jabalpur, however, missed his fifty. He was found leg before at the score of 49. Shivam Chaube, another centurion of the first match, was lucky as he scored 56 runs. In the first match against Jabalpur, he had scored 104 runs. Aditya Shrivastava who scored his highest 71 runs in the first innings made 19 runs.
Chasing the target of 263, Rewa lost four wickets for just 16 runs. Usman took two wickets and Zaid and Deepesh shared one wicket each.
As Bhopal had 78 runs lead in the first innings the team was declared winner. Team coach JP Tyagi said that the team is balanced and all set to repeat the performance in the final against Indore.
“We had defeated Indore in the semifinal of the 2005 tournament. This year our team is good in every department. We will win the tournament,” said Tyagi.
