Bhopal make a clean sweep

THE CONCLUDING day of the central region inter-SAI taekwondo competition saw a clean sweep by Bhopal players in the junior category. The competition concluded on Wednesday at the SAI Centre, Bishenkheri. 

Bhopal team that had dominated the inaugural day repeated the performance on Wednesday. In all junior weight categories, including boys and girls, Bhopal players registered win.

In junior boys’ section, Sumit of Bhopal won 48 kg to 54 kg category after defeating Manvendra of Raibareli. In junior girls’ section, Amrin of Bhopal won the 41 kg category after defeating Chanda of Bhopal and Deepika of Bhopal won the flyweight 41 kg category.

In the girls’ senior section, Padmini of Bhopal defeated Priyanka of Khandwa. In the boys’ senior section, Arjun Rawat of Bhopal defeated Shailendra of Bhopal. Yogesh Arya and Amir were the players other then from Bhopal registered win in the junior category. They won in the 45 kg and 48 kg category.

The chief guest of the prize distribution, SAI director in-charge AK Sharma, distributed prizes to the winners. The winners of the competition will participate in the All India Taekwondo Championship, to be organised in Aurangabad later this year.
