THE BHOPAL division under-15 boys’ cricket team is undergoing a rigorous practice at a nine-day camp being organised at the Ankur ground. The team will play in the Vijay Merchant Trophy cricket tournament. Bhopal will play against Jabalpur in the first match. The tournament will be held at the Old Campion grounds from October 9.

Hard conditioning, long-hour batting, bowling and catching can be seen at the ground regularly in the morning and evening. JP Tyagi, coach of the team, said that the players were working hard to win the tournament. “The players are motivated to give their best”, said Tyagi.

He hoped that the team would win the trophy this year. Last year, the team lost to Gwalior in the final by just two runs. “We have learnt a lot from the last tournament; we have told the players not to give any opportunity to the opponents; my objective is not to repeat the mistakes”, said Tyagi.

About the strategy of the team, Tyagi did not divulge much but said that the players were ready for any challenge. He said that the team has promising players like captain Shreyas Singh. He expects good performance from players like Vikrant Singh (wicket keeper), Usman Ali (left arm spinner), Aditya Shrivastava (right arm spinner) and Deepesh Singh.

The team: Shreyas Singh (captain), Vikrant Singh (vice captain), Akash Gupta, Ayan Khan, Umar Farooq, Aditya Shrivastava, Udai Sharma, Abimanyu Pandey, Deepesh Singh, Shivam Chaubey, Nitin Guru, Zaid Khan, Zain-ullah- Khan, Durves Dwivedi and Saurabh Khadse.
