Bid goodbye to tobacco to welcome good health

?TOBACCO IN any form is highly injurious to human health. It leads to major diseases like cancer, osteoporosis, loss of body strength and other disorders. People should avoid smoking, alcohol, use of tobacco,? said doctors of the city at various functions held to mark the ?World No Tobacco Day? on Wednesday. Allahabad Medical Association (AMA) president Dr AK Bansal said that the use of tobacco in any form was very damaging to human body.

‘TOBACCO IN any form is highly injurious to human health. It leads to major diseases like cancer, osteoporosis, loss of body strength and other disorders. People should avoid  smoking, alcohol, use of tobacco,” said doctors of the city  at various functions held to mark the ‘World No Tobacco Day’ on Wednesday.

Allahabad Medical Association (AMA) president Dr AK Bansal said that the use of tobacco in any form was very damaging to human body. He said that the use of tobacco weakened the body immune system which led to many disorders, causing emotional, financial  and social loss to a great  extent. He urged the youths to take oath to boycott tobacco and motivate others to do so.

AMA secretary Dr VK Gupta said that in most cases, tobacco affected the working people. Cancer specialist Dr B Paul said that tobacco was the major contributor to the spread of cancer even among the youths. Memo handed over to DM on World No Tobacco day .

Meanwhile, a delegation of ‘Struggle Against Pain’, a self-help organisation, submitted a memorandum to district magistrate on the occasion of Vishwa Dhoomrapaan Evam Tambaku Nishedh Diwas.

The delegation demanded through the memorandum to constitute an enforcement unit for implementing the provisions of Cigarette and Tobacco production Act 2003, to keep youths below 18 years of age away from tobacco products, check advertisements of tobacco products and clear and effective display of the statutory warning on tobacco products.

Moreover, NSS volunteers of Arya Kanya Degree College carried out an awareness campaign among the people to highlight the harmful effects of betel on the occasion of Vishwa Paan Nivarana Diwas here on Wednesday.
