Big Live, the intellectual property vertical from Reliance Broadcast Network Limited, Tuesday announced the launch of an award to recognise the contribution of women in the field of entertainment.

"Without women, the entertainment world or any world cannot be imagined. But sadly their contribution has not been recognized as much. The award surely is nice step forward," said actor Barun Chanda announcing the Big Salute to Bangla Women Entertainers Awards. He is also on the jury panel.

The awards will be given under two categories - jury awards and the popular awards for contribution in movies, television, music, dance, theatre and sports. The awards have been further categorised on age basis - young, adult and senior.

The nominees for all the categories will be decided by the jury which includes socialite Rita Bhimani and renowned danseuse Alakananda Roy besides Chanda.

"We appreciate this effort for giving recognition to women. Along with entertainment other categories like education, social work where women have been making big contributions should also be included," said Roy.

The winners in the popular category will be decided by public voting through a popular FM channel.

"The nominations will be decided soon after which the voting lines will be thrown open. We hope to organise the ceremony in December end," said Terence Mandel of Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd.
