The Barabanki district administration on Saturday gave a clean chit to Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan in the alleged land forgery case.
Additional district magistrate, Barabanki, Devendra Pandey told Hindustan Times that the allegations were found to be baseless during an inquiry.
“Amitabh Bachchan had proposed to donate two-piece of plots (khasra number 711 and 793) to Daulatpur gram sabha. The gram pradhan Rajkumar Singh had given her consent to accept the lands donated by Bachchan”, he said.
“During investigations, the inquiry team came to conclusion that no one could donate land directly to the gram sabha and neither the gram pradhan could accept any donation in the personal capacity”, he said.
“The proposal of donation should be routed through district land management committee (LMC) headed by the district administration. Only after the approval of LMC the land donated procedure is completed. It was found that LMC had made no proposal to donate the plots owned by Bachchan to gram sabha”, Pandey said.
“Amitabh Bachchan is the owner of the khasra number 711 and 793 in Daulatpur village and was free to donate his land to anybody or organization”, Pandey said.
It may be mentioned here that on October 23, 2009 Amitabh Bachchan had donated land ( khasra number 711, 793, 1080, 1088, 1083 and 1086) purchased by him at Daulatpur village to Nishtha foundation run by Bollywood actress Jaya Prada for building a girl’s school.
The move, however, had triggered a controversy as his decision was challenged by Avenendra Singh, the son of gram pradhan Rajkumari Singh. He had a lodged a complaint with the police accusing Big B of fraud and alleged that he had gone back on his promise. A committee was constituted by Vikas Gothalwal, DM, Barabanki to inquire into the allegation.
On Friday, Nishtha Foundation had returned the two plots (711 and 793) to Bachchan. Rajesh Rishikesh Yadav the custodian of land appointed by Big B submitted a letter to the District Magistrate stating that Amitabh Bachchan wish to donate both plots to gram sabha as proposed by him earlier.
