Bihar assembly on Friday adopted the appropriation bill (III), 2010 related to first supplementary budget making a provision of Rs 5498.66 crore.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, told the house that out of Rs 5498.66 crore, a sum of Rs 2273.01 crore had been made available under non-plan head, Rs 3063.51 crore under plan head and Rs 152.15 crore centrally sponsored schemes.

Modi called for sanctioning Rs 5498.66 crore for taking up several development measures.

The bill was passed by voice-vote in the absence of the opposition who were marshalled out on Thursday for the rest of the session for their 'unruly behaviour' demanding resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi for their alleged involvement in Rs 11,412 crore 'scam detected by the CAG'.

The assembly also adopted Rs 532 crore additional budgetary demands of agriculture department and 51 other departments by voice vote.
