An Independent MLA in Bihar has shelled out Rs six crore to hire a helicopter for six months to reach his constituency every day ahead of the Assembly elections later this year.

Dadan Singh alias Dadan Pahalwan, who hired the four-seater chopper from a Hyderabad-based company, said "It is a small sacrifice to realise my larger mission to oust both Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar from power."

Pahalwan, the three-term MLA from Dumraon constituency in Buxar district, on Sunday flew in the chopper to reach Phulharia village to kick off campaign for his little known party, Prajatantrik Lok Ekta Dal.

The former Bihar unit president of Samajwadi Party said he has stretched his own resources to the maximum to hire the chopper for six months.
