Assembly elections in Bihar could be announced soon with the Union Home Secretary G K Pillai scheduled to meet top Election Commission officials on Tuesday.
Pillai's meeting with Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi and Election Commissioner V S Sampath has come at a time when the EC has finalised the preparation for elections to the 243-member assembly in the state.
Pillai is likely to discuss the security requirements for conducting smooth elections in the state.
The full Commission has already visited the state to oversee the poll preparations. The term of the assembly will end on November 27.
This will be first election after Quraishi took over the key post from Navin Chawla recently.
